Oh Marvelous Monday

I'm working from home today so I am in my home office ensemble, sweats and a tank. Doubt you guys want to see that, so I'm posting my salsa outfit instead. One of the instructors really liked me in green and said I should wear it more often. It's missing something though -- maybe a necklace, or scarf...have to work on that.

Weekend Finds

I bought this bag online a few weeks ago (it's still on back order) and finally went to check it out in the store (now that it's in stock) and I don't really like it. It's OK, just too big and the material in that color didn't look so hot in person.

But it's OK because I bought a different one that happens to be cuter and a lot cheaper -- YAY!!

I did find a cute pink and purple Banana Republic wrap shirt at the consignment shop that I'll probably wear when I'm working in Puerto Rico at the end of the week.

My last purchase was a pair of patent leather pumps. Man they feel so good on, like heaven!!
Black Patent Mary Jane, Kate Spade, Katie
So I forgot I took a picture of myself while I was in Dallas this past week. As you can see I have an unhealthy addiction to grey, black and white, but hey I'm working on it.

A Little More Shopping

I ordered these online last night and and got a good deal. I just hope they fit. I hate having to return stuff that I order on-line especially when I have to mail it in. We shall see shortly.

I have decided to limit my shopping to accessories only --bags, shoes, belts and jewelry are what I'm seriously lacking and I think can really help me create more looks with what I already have in the closet. I also have a stack of new-with-tags items that were hidden in my closet that I'm dropping off to get altered. Also going to clean up and head over to some consignment stores and see if I find anything interesting. Later!

What I Wore Today

Thank you to all of you fashionistas out there keeping us up to date on what you're rocking. I've gained enough courage to start posting a few of my own creations when I actually get dressed and go to the office or client site and surprisingly I did today...and on a Friday of all days. Anywho it's mid day and I'm already at home and back in sweats...la dolce vita! Enjoy!

Recent Buys

So I'm in Dallas for work for the week for training. BLEH. In order to stay sane, I've been reading blogs and shopping online. Check out my purchases...

Thanks to BudgetChic for the pink pencil skirt find. Mine is one the way and my friend bought one in red as well.

I know I said I'd stay away from black, but I think this will be a good piece, plus DVF wrap dresses don't need altering and I think I can do so much with this dress even with what is already in my closet.

My co-work/bestie and I left class a little early and drove up to Allen,Texas to the Premium Outlets last night and I bought this MK tote. I don't typically get into bags like that. I don't even own a wallet (adding to shopping list). I just use my laptop bag to hold all my stuff. Sad I know. :-(

I passed on a pair of Cole Haan pumps that were 50% off the already considerable discount and I'm still kicking myself on that one. Oh well..I'm going to check out some consignment shops in Atlanta when I return. Alexis' Suitcase looks promising. Any other suggestions for the ATL?

The Journey Begins

So it's been nearly three years since I left the comforts of the college lifestyle behind and traded in my school hoodies for suits and blazers.  I looked at this transition as a very positive one, excited to bring a little spice in my life and let my professional sytle reflect the true person that I am inside.

Well things didn't quite work out that way.  For starters, I work from home about 50% of the time.  Those days, my outfit for the day is yoga pants and a tank top.  Comfy, but not helping me grow my personal style.  I also work in IT and am surrounded by men in jeans or khaki pants and polos on a daily basis.  BORING!!! The times I have attempted to dress it up a little bit and try something a little funky and creative, I was met with a lot of stares and inquiries of where the hell I was going!! LOL  The last and probably the biggest challenge is dressing my frame.  I'm 5'3 and about 105 lbs soaking wet.  I live at the tailor and they are not so friendly on the budget. Le sigh.

So I'm done with my pity party and on a  quest to revamp my style one purchase at a time.  I'm not exactly sure what I'm going for, but I have a few rules I'm trying to loosly follow:
  1. Limit the black and grey purchases
  2. Introduce brown into my life
  3. Buy multi purpose pieces that can work for day and night
  4. Color, color color
  5. Accessorize
I've already gotten started with a items and will post and see what you guys think on my finds and what I put together with what I have.
